MoMu opening weekend goes ahead as planned, while 'P.LACE.S - Looking through Antwerp lace' will be postponed by three weeks
Starting from the opening weekend of MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp on September 4 & 5, 2021 until January 2022, the institution will offer a line-up of fascinating exhibitions, open-air projects, city walks and activities. The overarching theme: the global transition and meaningful shifts within the world of fashion.
One of three major exhibitions planned at the museum for its re-launch, 'P.LACE.S. - Looking through Antwerp lace' has been postponed by three weeks, to September 25, 2021 until January 2, 2022. The exhibition 'E/MOTION. Fashion in Transition' and the Collection Presentation, together with the rest of the peripheral entertainment, will go ahead as planned.
During the final phase of the renovations for MoMu - Fashion Museum Antwerp, a technical issue with the climate-control system was identified. A solution has been found to enable to meet the quality standards of the Fashion Museum, and to ensure that the ambitious programme of ‘Fashion 2.021 Antwerp - Fashion/Conscious’ can go ahead this autumn.
Visitors who had already booked a ticket or guided tour for this exhibition will be contacted personally by the museum.
MoMu director Kaat Debo says: "We are extremely happy and relieved that the reopening and the opening weekend will not be compromised. We do, however, take our responsibility as a museum to guarantee climate control according to the applicable museum standards and to be able to present the collections and loans in a high-quality infrastructure, under the best possible conditions. Together with AG Vespa, we will be using the coming months to explore an appropriate long-term solution."
