MoMu organises series of talks with international guests
With 'MoMu Talks', MoMu is organising a series of talks with foreign guest speakers in May and June 2023. In May, you can listen to Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker and French Alexandre Samson, curator at Palais Galliera (Paris), in the museum's auditorium. In June, MoMu welcomes Swedish couture collector Fredrik Robertsson.
SATURDAY 6 MAY: PAUL KOOIKER
Following the exhibition 'Man Ray and fashion', MoMu curator Romy Cockx will have a conversation with Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker. Subject of the conversation is Kooiker's interest in art movements such as surrealism and his focus on Man Ray. His personal practice will also be discussed. A Q&A session is planned after the talk.
Kooiker studied at the School for Photography and Photonics in The Hague, the Netherlands. In his fashion photography, the photographer creates a world all his own. In it, he portrays major fashion brands and famous faces. As a result, his surreal photographs look like scenes from films we do not know the story of.
SATURDAY 13 MAY: 1007. FASHION BIG BANG - ALEXANDRE SAMSON
MoMu is currently lending a number of collection items for the exhibition '1997 Fashion Big Bang' in Palais Galliera (Paris). Milou Van Rossum, fashion editor and chief of Het Blad (NRC), welcomes the curator, Alexandre Samson, to talk about the influence of the Belgians on this key year in recent fashion history.
Samson studied museology and fashion history at the École du Louvre (Paris). Besides being a curator, he is also head of the Haute Couture and Contemporary Creation department at the Paris fashion museum Palais Galliera.
SATURDAY 10 JUNE: FREDRIK ROBERSTSSON
Fashion journalist and curator Susanna Strömquist talks to Swedish couture collector Fredrik Robertsson on his personal collection and the exhibition on his wardrobe opening this Fall at Liljevalchs, Stockholm in Sweden.
Robertsson is a self-proclaimed couture addict. He is creative director of Björn Axén and global Equality Ambassador for Absolut Vodka. He is also on the board of the non profit charity organization The Rainbow Foundation.
